chrome door handles suck!
hey guys it's me again...with another noobie ?.... alright the deal is i have a 95 gxe and i'm painting it next week . The shop said they won't paint my door handles for the same price because they're paint won't stick to chrome, but they told me that if i could remove the chrome they would paint it for me. Which would be nice because the chrome kind of looks tacky Anyone with a gxe ever try removing the chrome? Guys please help me out if u got any feedback.

try painting them yourself. I know I have black and it's a joke to match up. your rosewood will be a bit harder, but if you find a krylon fusion in your color, I highly recommend it. like 10 coats of that and a couple clearcoats and you should be fine. I painted my chrome grill 2 months ago and I have one rock chip. But overall it's holding up fine [against this past blizzard, cold temps and a carwash]. Youll be doing door handles, so they won't be exposed to flying rocks. Plus, you live in kali and not jersey, so there's not as much crap on the roads. =) you won't be disappointed. I believe in krylon's fusion.

Pretty much you can sand them and prep them yourself.. I guess they dont want to do it cuz they're really small and its a waste of time for them. I did my chrome grill by sanding it down but I put no clear coat in it and now its chipped to death..

hehe check this out. the front of my car is all back because I painted it. the sides have the chrome outlining and handles and the rear has the gold lettering. man am I a mutt. but I like the way it looks. the gold 'maxima' lettering makes my maxima look a bit 'richer'

:o)
I had my handles on my '96 painted body color 4 years ago and they still look fine. I can't tell you what the shop did but I can tell you they didn't flinch at all and they look great today. Perhaps you should look for a new shop??
