CD Player error

Hey all,

I have a '99 Maxima, with Bose stereo system. Lately the CD player started working really wierd. I put any CD in, (tried many), it would play for about 4 tracks or so, and then would make this crackling static noise and show me "CD error".
I tried cleaning the heads with a cpecial cleaning CD I bought, but that did not seem to help at all.
Have you got any suggestions or diagnostics I can run on the stereo to get rid of this problem?

Thanks a lot,

Mike.

i've got a 99 as well. the day after i got it the CD player made this nasty high pitched sound instead of playing the disc. i ejected the CD, turned the power off then back on and everything was fine.

every now and again something will go screwy with the Bose unit. the display may stop updating though the music will keep playing fine; the buttons may just decide to stop working altogether, etc.

fortunately, the system has only messed up like this a handful of times so it wouldn't yet be worth the cost or trouble of replacing the unit.

Well this was the way I thought until it started really messing up. Every 4 songs it stops and gives me static, and cd error message. I was wondering if there is a guide for this BOSE player, like a troubleshooting system of code or something?
