cleaned TB and added restore

just got done cleaning my TB and was wondering how everyone else did it. i just sprayed TB cleaner and took lintless shop towels and wiped all the carbon crap out i could. i kept spraying until it was all clean coming out and had no more carbon in it. anyone else do the same or something different?

i also added that engine restore crap....just tried it out and gonna wait and see. it said i would see an improvement by 500 miles so ill wait and see then. anyone else use this stuff? thanks

exactly what i said. the weirdest is the whole 5 cents thing. anyway. i believe in chevron techron for cleanin out the fuel system. Got about 60 more miles to the tank, and thats even under hard driving. Seafoam has it's own controversial section. Give Chevron techron a try, if it can't help, it can't hurt either.

not necessarily, but in the case of techron, it IS just the additive they use in their fuels. so there can't be much harm done if thousands of people are already driving around with this fluid in their engines, simply by filling up at a chevron.

Why did you put Restore in your maxima? Does your engine have high miles with low compression readings?

The Maxima engine is one of the best built car engines in the world. I have Maxima's with 200,000+ miles that do not burn any oil or have any blowby problems. If your engine has normal compression readings, no need to use Restore.

No need to worry here, it shouldn't do any harm , but just to be on the safe side - go and change your oil tomorrow !!!

I drove 95 max 5 speed with 365K on it, the engine run perfect and it didn't need any additives.

365,000 !??!? That's almost as ridiculous as that classic SE-R with 451,000 on the clock.

well I followed all the directions with the writeup on motorvate. The thing is the connect of the accordion thing to the throttle body is so freakin tight. I loosened the coupler and still didnt help. Have this happened to anybody else?

Yeah, they let you borrow the OBD II machine, you only need an ID an that's it. I have done that before.

Yeah i didnt know how to check the ECU codes before this. Where does the machine hook up to? And all you have to bring is an i.d. or something?

It just gives you the code, that's it. Bring that code on here, look in stickys, and bing, you have your answer.

Take the entire throttlebody off. Spray some carb cleaner in there and scrub thoroughly. This still will not get everything around the butterfly valve off. You need to take either the green part of a dishwashing sponge or very fine grit sandpapaer and scrub the throttle body with it. This is the only way to get the throttle body back to factory condition, especially with many miles on the car.

Also, you all may want to be checking out SeaFoam for engine cleaning. There are three applications: crankcase (oil), gas tank, and the intake manifold.

You all need to understand though, by cleaning the throttle body, which is about a tenth of the intake system, you MAY notice better response and idle, but def. no horsepower releases. The bes bet is a port and polish, which can be cheap if your cover is already over.

Also, I never threw any codes after doing all of the above stated.
