Get one from ebay and just add a K & N filter to it.

There are different ones available, i suggest you read the faq's and stickies for all information on max mods and diy things.

if you dont wanna drill the hole for the PR cai, then go with the injen-style cai off ebay, no drilling required

there has been testing done, and the pr style actually keeps the coldest overall temperature, while the injen is the hottest. the short ram set up is in between. the drilling isnt that bad

on a budget here...so the bomz cold air intakes just adds to the sound and no addition to hp at all? if thats the case i think ill just stick with my stock. i've tamed the sound well. lol
How about the place racing, injen, stillen, etc intakes? i know the sound is awesome for these, but no hp gain? so all that stuff in their description is bullcrap or what?

like i said, if you get the place racing style one off ebay, and you pair it to a y pipe, you will see a performance gain. i went from a 15.994 to a 15.435 at the track adding a bomz place racing style cai. that was the only mod i did to increase the numbers like that.

how can you tell the filter it came with sucked? as long is it is firm and sturdy, its decent.

go with ebay, they all the do the same and give you the same sound (im almost sure your not going for performance with an intake)

it could have been temperature or anything. half second is a hell of a lot for an intake.

Okay first of all the intake is not feeding the y-pipe, it's feeding the engine slightly if any more air than the stock intake, thats always good. Any intake you get < stock intake. The only thing you're going to get out of an intake is SOUND thats it. Driveability, especially in the summer months sux compared to the stock intake. That said I have an intake and have always had one on all of my cars and I just love the sound.

And I know it sucked. It was a little 2.5 inch pos and I upped to a 3" k&n filter. Why do people say go get a k&n air filter, or a stillen air filter if the ones that come with the ebay intakes are ok?

Yeah, could have been anything, like maybe the intake. Why do so many people say that adding an intake to your y pipe will bring out the most of your pipe?

and i know the air intake doesn't directly feed the y pipe, but the air goes into the motor, which goes through the y pipe and out the exhaust. sorry for not going through the entire process.
