What kind of glue is appropriate to attach spoiler directly to trunk?

Hey all, on my maxima, the spoiler is hanging off the trunk.... The brackets on the spoiler that attach to the clips on the trunk are broken, so I was thinking of gluing the spoiler to the trunk, but I don't know what kinda glue to use. What is the best glue to use in this kinda situation, to hold the spoiler firmly to the trunk? HELP!

Given that wood glue is meant to attach wood and not plastic OR metal then I don't think it would be the best thing to attach plastic and metal. Probably some kind of epoxy. Go to homedepot and try to find one that is appropiate to the materials being attached. The epoxies are in the paint section at the one near me. I don't know how good an idea glueing the spoiler back on really is, but I have to experience to draw on.

Oh, hehe I didn't know you were kidding, my lack of glue knowledge didn't help either .

I'd buy the clips, but the part of the spoiler that attaches to the clips are broken, and also the original clips are so damn hard to remove off the spoiler, but I'll get another go at it in better weather.

You need to fix whats broken on your spoiler and reattach it the proper way, with screws like mentioned in the above post.

Ok, I will scratch the idea of using glue. Now, should I go ahead and use clips or actualy bolts? I don't want anything to do with Bondo. If anyone else has any alternative solutions, please do not be shy .

go to the dealer, tell them what you need to do, and let them give you the right parts.

people with 3rd gens use jb weld iirc...that is a common problem for them and i know many have used it as a fix. personally i'd fix the spoiler itself like others have said, but the jb weld is another option for you.

buy yourself some 60sec epoxy... that stuff bonds anything to anything permenantly!! They sell it at any auto parts store.

i had epoxy broke off in 2 weeks from my system. bondo is easy to use. what was broken on mine was the two outer supports with the plastic clips and the drivers side inner support with the bolts. with the bondo all i did was use some bubble wrap in side the spoiler to make a area that the bondo would fill up and so that it wouldnt spread through out the spoiler and then used the gasket as a guide to place the bolts waited 15 mins and it was dry. be careful cause it gets hot

I would niot be looking at a glue solution. Could you imagine your spoiler cracking off and flying down the highway at 65 MPH? Crashing into someone?

i would agree with what jepht20 says about using JB weld. I used jb weld for many things, and once it bonds, its not coming off. think of it as a cold weld.

My spoiler is currently held on with 2 bolts (both of them on one support) thanks to my dumba55 friend. But, it has survived speeds upward of 120mph with no problems. I'm replacing it soon, but it doesn't seem to be in any danger of falling off for the time being...
