Need price for a hood

As I have posted on here before, my roomate slid across my hood and dented it up. I went to a shop and they said I would have to get a whole new one. THe shop I went to estimated the cost to well over $1000. I didn't want to be an *******, so I didnt make my roomate pay that. I found another shop that gave me a price of $450. (new hood and paint). It looked like a good plan to me, so I call my roomate, and ask him if the price is ok. He says, "Yeah, it is." So, we make arrangements that he'll pay me back once I get everything finalized.

So now, I find out that he is getting the money through his parents...... and he talked to them, and they think $450 for a hood is REDICULAS!...he tells me this..im like WTF?...you agreed to it!

He then says that they will pay PART of it(I dont know how much yet)..but they wont pay all of it because they didnt get a chance to find a deal of their own.

SO, I'm going to call his parents and tell them that if they can find a new hoodand paint for cheaper that $450, then I'll charge them for that price (rather than taking them to court..which I really really want to do, but im not telling them that yet).

Therfore, I need to know that $450 is a fairly good price for a hood, and that they wont be able to find one for cheaper. But, I'm fairly pissed off right now and can't think too clearly..if you can think of another solution, please post it!

thanks

Steve

Have you tried an autowrecker yet? I don't know why you should have to put yourself out though. When this is all resolved I would suggest you tell your roomate to pack his bags and exit stage right. With friends like that who needs enemies, lol!

However, it sounds like he comes by his stupidity honestly given the response from the parents. Are they destitute or what? $450 seems reasonable to me, what do they expect ... $100 WTF!

he damaged something on your car, and he should pay for it.

If he was really your friend, he'd understand that and not have tried to slide across your hood...what is this, starsky and hutch?

if you want, you can get a cf hood for cheaper, but i would just make the parents pay for everything, or take your friend to court. either way, you get a new hood free of charge.

That really sucks man, I hope you guys come to a mutual agreement and it doesn't have to go as far as court. I did a little searching on Google and found some OEM hoods for your '98 Max..

Looks like their hoods range from ~$206-$230. That of course would have to be painted and shipped, so I'm not sure how much of a savings it would be from the guy who quoted you for $450. Good luck and keep us posted
