Y-pipe selection time...
#43
personally, i don't own a Y-pipe..........yet
but in person i've heard both the cattman and WSP, and both were with 2.5" piping and a can muffler(blah)
but anyway they were both on 97 max/5 speed........one was a buddy i went to school with and the other was a cool azz guy who drove a sterling mist max with 2 stockies up front and 2 mesh in the back, met him @ the QT on barrett
anyway....the cattman definitely sounded deeper than the WSP, not necessarily louder but a better tone; but that wasn't due to the muffler because they both had POS ones

If all pipes are the same diameter, and are mandrel bent, which they are, we buy them for the power per $$ ratio, so if all things are the same and you can get a SS Y for close to the same price as an Aluminized steel, why not get the one that's the best price and SS????............ BUDGET, they are in the exhaust business that is what they built their company on! They mfg their own, volume, volume, volume.

I really hope some Superflo owners chime in on this one.....
Can someone post a picture of it too... I don't see it on Warpspeed's website.
Also, are aluminized steel y-pipes lighter than SS y-pipes? If so, how much lighter? I want to shave as much weight as possible, and it might influence my decision on which one to buy.
Thanks.
James

i mean of course its going to feel great, but you cant really tell unless you had a diffferent brand before. and you cant really know how durable it is right when you buy it. or are you buying it just to be the first to experiment? i give you props for that :

well ive ridden in other maxes w/ other y-pipes so i kinda have a feel for what they are like (good point tho). i was really talkin about sound and such. i HATE rice/bees in a can/whatever so thats whats most attractive about it

yeah..I can fer sher tell you that the only diff. between my 4th gen and my buddy's 3rd gen is there is no "rasp" (an airy sound which is kinda like bees in the can, in other words, more sound, less air noise--more rich like sound)...as opposed to my y pipe from them which is the lined flex section style...which has a little rasp...less than most setups I have heard, but it's there nonetheless...
getting headers soon, so I don't really care about upgrading to the superflo to get rid of the rasp as the cattmans or hotshot headers should take care of that!!

Budget Y-Pipe
I installed a budget y-pipe last July, fits perfect and for the price - $160 US, it can't be beat. Flex section is of high quality stainless steel mesh, I live in boston and we had like four major snow storms...my Y-pipe has yet to show any rust. The y-pipe they have now is much better, they're fully polished instead of being painted. Mine is silver...o wells....
