Original 57 K - 5-speed.

I was told last week that I have a slight leak in my left transmission seal. What is the downside if I just stick cardboard under the car and monitor the seepage? Should I get this fixed immediately? I just got the transaxle fluid replaced elsewhere 2 weeks ago and they said nothing. This problem came to light when it was up on the hoist getting the brakes bled.

rmurdoch...i had the same problem. About 2 months ago i had a seal leak, and i got it fixed. I was leaking a fluid after that and found out i had another seal leak. This was all the cause of failing differential bearings. Im acutally going tonite to drop my car off and get it fixed. It is gonna cost me $1500. It sucks, but it comes with the territory of gen. 4.

100,090 miles, seems to rev my engine higher at times, but it could be the way i accelerate. Other than that it's perfect!

Both Maximas on their second transmission.
On my 95, it went out at 100,000 and was replaced with VLSD
On the 97 Maxima that transmission went out in the 60k to 70k range, it now has a VLSD tranny too.

Tranny replaced with a '98 w/ 40k miles on it.
My car has had four other tranny's - orig. replaced at 130K miles, and then from there on, each tranny that was put in until my current one had some unforeseen problem overlooked by an anxious wholesaler who was fixing my problem under warantee. I now have 136k.
Yup, five, but it didn't cost me a penny (except transportation back and forth to the dealer).

153,3XX on the original. It acts up occasionally and I hope it's about to kick the bucket, or at least sell it before it does. I'm itching for a manual and I'll be getting a newer car for a grad. present.

~110k on original, diffy bearings went...replaced...~1k later, tranny ate itself. Got stiffed by the shop. Replaced w/used tranny w/80k on it...5k later the diffy bearings are leaking again.

I'll be rebuilding this one myself.
