disabled engine start!

disabled engine start!
I recently replaced the battery on my 1996 SE, and now the engine won't start. I'm confident it has enough juice to turn over, but it's like the car disabled the engine with some sort of anti-theft device.
The previous owner installed a basic immobilizer (audio jack sort-of nub that needs to be inserted to start the car). Does this have anything to do with it? Is it the stock anti-theft system. Do I have to tow it to a mechanic?
Thank you so much for your help! I'm at a complete loss...

It's dosen't sound like the factory anti thieft cause the horns & highbeams will be pulsing. It sound like an aftermarket cut off of some type. Ya gotta look for a override switch under the dash somewhere. Most alarms can be unpluged and the vehicle will start. If not you may need to have a prof. disable it. If your in Queens NY I be happy to help you.
