Ok Tranny ?

well i got 60K on my oringinal tranny and i just recently flush half fluid and kept half becuase after researching at nissan and really old machanics they siad the black stuff that i saw that look like chip in there the help the tranny grip. right now i feel a little jerk when the auto changes first gear...but goes away after the car is warm...is that normal?
well my question is ....i want to keep the tranny in good condition
should i get and install a tranny cooler that cost 40 bucks? is that worth it?

. . .

Please dont listen to those old mechanics. There is not suppost to be any black chips in your tranny, only clean appropropriate Tranny fluid. Take your car somewhere and get it properly flushed. Or do it youself there is a how-to in the fluid section.

Did they tell you why not to flush??

As far as I know that is apart of the 60K tune up for a car no matter if its a nissan or a Ford, Transmission flush is recommended at 60K.

if you are staying away from the flush, don't just stick with the 50/50 old and new fluid

i can see not wanting to break the seal on your tranny and drop the pan.....i really didn't want to

but i did replace the tranny fluid 3 times over the span of 2 weeks.....pretty much dump, refill, drive, dump, refill

so say you have 100% old, one time would give you 50% old, two times would give you 25% old, and a third would drop it down to 13% old fluid

i have 83k on my car and this past weekend my tranny had an extremely loud whining noise. Before I knew it, I could no longer get into 1st or 2nd gear. I had to drive it to a rebuild shop yesterday using only 3rd gear. They couldn't even take it on a road test. Looks like I'll be putting about $1300 in for the rebuild and am not to happy about that. I can't believe how quickly these transmissions go. UNBELIEVABLE

That is a weird thing isnt it? I accidentally launched in 3rd, just starting accelerating like Iwould in 1st but before I came comepletely off the clutch I was wondering why is the car shaking, saw I was in 3rd and laught. . . moral of the story dont do 4 things at once while driving you might forget to be in the right gear

but was good to know I can launch in another gear if needed, 2nd works best
