Help!

I just purchased a new MAF for my 98 seeing as my old one seems to be the cause of many problems. I was just wondering, does the new one need be programmed or is it just like a plug and play operation. Thanks.

I got the MAF from auto zone for $282. I installed it and most of my problems have stopped. No CEL or anything like that. BUT, when I try to pull a code the 0304 code (knock sensor) still comes up, and sometimes when driving I feel like the car is resisting hitting its full potential...help?
