Alignment Cost?
Alignment Cost?
i just installed eibach pro and gr2's and was wondering how much i should pay for alignment? i just came back from one shop where he wanted $45 for toe adjustments and $30 for each camber adjustment if needed. total could be $165. he also said i might need a camber kit.
right now, the car is running straight but i could tell the wheels are bending in balding out the inside of the tires.
so how much did you guys pay and did you need a camber kit?

My car went from 12k being aligned, all the way to 56k, and when they printed out the alignment specs, they were barely off. Same thing when I got another alignment at 91k. So barring worn parts, the Maxima doesn't seem to require alignments very often, my .02. I do it when I get new tires.

One advantage of the Maxima low tech suspension is it's bullet proof. Unless something is bent/damaged, the car will stay in alignment for a long time. And if anything goes wrong, the first warning sign is the steering won't center any more.
the price of your allignment ususally depends on the equipment being used. better machines justify a higher cost. i just paid about $80 for mine, in a shop using a $50,000 machine (i was told). as far as your camber goes, if your tires are wearing on the inside, yes, you need a camber a kit. i belive the camber kit cost about $60. there is no "golden rule" if you will need a camber kit on your car depending on what springs you use. it depends on what your particular car will do. anyone who says "you definately DONT need a camber kit with those springs", should do a little more reading. results vary from car to car, no matter what springs you get. i have h&r's and my passanger front does not adjust to within specs for camber, meanwhile the drivers does. alot of cars will get to within specs on dropped springs, others wont. like i said, it depends on YOUR car.
another myth- not to have a 4 wheel allignment done. true, there are no adjustment built into the rear beam for our cars, but it is important to have a 4-wheel done if your car pulls to see if everything in the rear is within spec. a wheel thats off in the rear can cause your car to track to one side, resulting in a pull in your wheel. even though there are no adustment built in, there are ways to for them to get them adjusted if need be.
anyway, yes more than likely, you'll need a camber kit if your tire is wearing inside, and your air pressure is ok. i just had mine done, and my car is still pulling, so i have to go back and see whats causing that.
