As much as I would love to sell you a Carsound Cat., you will definetly get more gains with a y-pipe. Gains over stock will not be that much, even with a high flow cat. Look at your own cat, compare to an RT or Carsound. There's not alot of difference, Maxima Cats are already pretty high flow. I would only consider replacement if I had 75K or more on the stock one. My guess is that a high flow cat probably won't be much difference than your OE set up.Hope this helps.

punch out your cat, it's free... unless you're a tree hugger, then nevermind.

How hard is it to do that? If it's not that hard, I would like to do it to mine, instead of getting a test pipe, this is free. And let me get this straight, so I literally take my fist and punch the thing out? j/k

Hey Cumalot, this is what I did to my cat...exactly! I took a flat-headed screw driver and banged out the main honey-comb filter within the cat. Then, once the inner part was gone, I took that same screw driver and banged out all the excess filter around the edges.....VOILA, no more converter.

cheers,

G

I did this on my VW Scirocco. I found that due to the large hollow chamber their is an echo or somthing that sounds weird. I wraped my straight pipe with two layers of exhaust wrap and I get no noise at all. Plus, if they ever do get serious about inspections in Lousyana you will need to have the cat to re install.
