ES Transmission Mounts:

Who would be interested? I spoke with someone that works there and let him know, he said it would just require volume. How many are actually interested?

I thought the tranny mount and side engine mount (front of engine) were not a big performance gain and mainly just held up the motor. From what I have heard they just make your car shake more and do a little more stiffening.

From the VE guys who have done it they say they love it and can really notice a difference. You figure once you start launching hard and laying down power everything will flex and move.

If I hadn't just got my tranny mounts replaced I would be down. There is definitely a noticible difference between stock and aftermerket.

But the tranny mounts just control side to side movement, not front to back, which is 90% of the stress put on the motor/tranny. I can't see how upgraded tranny mounts would be worth any cost of effort. If I am wrong explain to me how.

Ya i get random shakes, i think it from my motor mounts not struts. What is a good set of motor mounts? Plus how much for a shop to install/ what is needed for a DIY. Its funny they always are telling me its bolt on, but when the bolts are so rusted i cant work!

donald how much east-west engine movement have you seen in your VQ? I haven't seen any in mine.

I don't know how the transmission mounts are set up in the VQ vs. my VE, but when I installed Urethane filled transmission mounts only, they helped a ton with ****er feel.

YMMV

Well, I have not really looked.

But I know the engine will rock north-south/front-back. There is no way the motor mounts can absorb all of that blow so the trans mounts will help, maybe not as noticeable as the motor mounts, but they will definately help.

But the transmission mounts can't move front-back.

Why cant they?

The rubber gets old and crappy, then the trans wiggles around whichever way it should. I am not saying everyone should get this, but if you want to tighten up everything and make the car close to new again, why not?

have you looked at the transmission mounts? They only move side to side. Front to back movement is not possible. I was just doing my clutch 2 days ago and had them in my hand.

I have looked at my tranny mount, and it didnt look worn at all. Those mounts are just there to prevent the engine from rocking side to side, and i dont think that they carry any substansial weight like the north-south motor mounts do.
