the money pit

I've had some problems with the max today and feel the need to b!tch some. So here I go...

I get out of school today, and notice that the transmission fluid is leaking. That set me off a little bit, so I drove home to take a look. By the time I got to my house it was leaking a little more. A couple hours later when I took it over to the service station, I noticed that the fluid was leaking A LOT more. I didn't realize how much until I got home later, and saw a THICK trail leading from my garage all the way down the street. Anyway, at the service station the guy told me a seal was broken, and that I'd need to take it to a transmission shop. He also pointed out that I need to replace BOTH of my CV joints. I knew I had to replace the drivers side one but I could see that the passenger side has begun to tear and is spinning out grease. So tomorrow I'm bringing it in to a transmission shop, and I'm hoping it will be done soon. And best of all, when I got home I had to scrub the driveway to get the tranny fluid off, and its friggin cold here in MN!

So right now I'm a little pissed. I don't even want to know how much this is gonna cost... But other than that I'm having a great day!

Dropped the car off yesterday... looks like I'm gonna need a new tranny. Also replacing the front axle due to the CV. The whole thing is gonna be in the $2500 range.

Anyone know how to get tranny fluid off a driveway? The thing was leaking like crazy. The line of fluid goes all the way down the street.:

Where did you buy it from? Are manual transmissions cheaper than automatic?

If it would be feasible to do a 5speed swap for the price of another automatic I would definately go with the manual....
