I wish I could have one, but no one will do it for a 5 speed. So I'm SOL. Be sure if you do get one, that you leave your car in neutral or it may end up where your car was last time. Just kidding ya man, I couldn't help myself. I can just imagine what rome06 would have said. Anyway, no one here will do it, so I have to go out in the a.m. and start it, probably better off as to avoid any mishaps. Good luck though.

In the event that you think someone wired your car to blow up on start, you can start it from far away... JK. Prolly so you can warm it up before you get there.

if you put on a neutral switch so it won't start in gear you are usually ok, but then you always have to leave your car out of gear, so if your parking brake ever slips .....

I've heard quite a few interesting stories about cars lurching on their own with this ....

I don't feel like wasting the gas, especially when the max heats up in 2 minutes flat anyway (except on really cold days). When I got my alarm installed, I opted out of that option, so I wouldn't even know how much it would cost.

I got mine installed in January and I love the thing. It does take some getting used to with regards to not touchong the brakes and only using the parking brake and leaving the car in neutral. I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada and In january we usually see temps in the -40 degree range. I still plug her in, but its nice to have a warm car when you get into it. In the summer, it'll be the opposite. +30 and I'll use the a/c to cool her down. Leather gets really hot. By the way, I know a guy who knows a guy and so on, and he did the compustar 2way fm pager, trunk release, 2 remotes door locks start kill anti grind and I don't even know what else for like 500 Canadian.

I had it.. But got rid of it. Had to many problems with the reciever on the alarm. I had the hornet 554t. The alarm was like 180 plus 200 for install.

I just got a Crime Stopper with LCD paging system and all that jazz but i didnt install the remote start after talking to some install guys. Its bad news if you forget to leave it out of gear or you hit the start buttons on accident...Its nice to have but too much can go wrong with it

ok so yea i see the advantages, i live in SLC, it like 35 outside right now, and its the middle of the day. but isnt it really expensive, and the max already has me in the hole. i just dont see the logic. but i'll just shut up- to each his own

I have a 99 max stick with remote start. You have to remember to leave it in neutral. I had it installed in NY complete alarm with remote start $300.00. The safety switch on the clutch pedal had to be removed so you do not have to press the clutch to start the car. Let me know if you need the contact person who installed it.

how exactly do you disengage the clutch sensor anyways? i understand it's a little button/switch on the firewall behind pedal, can you just cover it with comething so it is engaged all of the time? I really have no clue and info on this would be great.

Iam not sure if ppl with this info would release that know-how... just get it bypassed like I did and I have no concern whatsoever if i forgot to put in neutral.

I had a Clifford RS3 installed with remote start by C3enthusiast (Roger). I don't remember now much the parts or install were. After my first remote gave out and I disabled the alarm, my car started having problems starting when it was colder than 50*, in fact it plain didn't start. The dealership was unable to locate the problem, then I took it to another shop, and they said to disconnect the alarm, and viola, it fixed the problem. I can't say if it's related to the remote start, the alarm being defective, or the install, but it fixed my problem.

Mine was $70 from DEI, it's for an automatic, installed it myself and made it work on my car. Just have to leave it in neutral with the e-brake up.

You are all lazy SOBs!! You are all young guys like myself! Run your lazy azz out side 15 minutes early, it takes seconds to start your car, ( if it starts ). And run back in the house for 15 so you don't get your little bums cold. Alright, j/k, I'm just bitter that no one will do an install for me around here. But in my opinion, it seems to be too much trouble. To each his own. Good luck boys!

I had thought that I would like the remote start, but I kind of think it is just something else that could break.

However, that is probably just because I don't live in extreme cold that needs to be heated before I get in.

i wish i had gotten it installed from don before i left but i was like nah, i won't need it -24 degrees and freezin my *** off waitin for it to warm up

i have it, i installed it myself. code alarm ca645, with remote start, door locks, window modules, trunk release, yada yada yada. the maxima is quite simple to do. anyways, to answer the clutch bypass question, the switch is a button that is when depressed when the clutch is in. find the switch under the dash, unplug it and run a jumper from the two wires on the plug or just cut the plug off and solder it back together. i got my remote start because it was cheap and summer is hot.

As far as safety issues, the neutral safety switch just needs to be tapped and the car will Not start in gear. I wont do manual trannies for regular customers but Maximas are quite simple.

It's good when it's really cold out.

If you were running a bunch of errands you'd have to keep turning off/turning on the car which is bad for the starter.

There's nothing harmful about it.

I used an inexpensive add on on mine that works when I hit my regular remote auxillary. I never park my car in gear so leaving it in gear is not an issue (even on a hill all you have to do is have the parking brake on and turn your tires toward the curb), even when remote starting I glance at my car just in case!! If it was in gear I could hit the stop button, but that has never happened. There are remote starts made for manual transmissions that require you to exit the car in a certain sequence, you have to leave the car on, in nuetral with the parking brake on, when you shut your door after you exit the car it automatically shuts off, assuring that it will remote start only in neutral. My add on was only about $40.00. On another note what do people do, start the car and leave the key in it? If the car happened to get stolen because of that would insurance even pay? Remote starts have an anti theft feature that shuts the car off if someone tried something without the key. Cold morning, hit the button, exit the house to a warm car. If you are not used to leaving your car in neutral when you park, don't get it.

oh yeah, I installed it myself, pretty simple, the hardest thing to get to was the brake swtich.

Actually in NJ it is illegal to leave your car unattended and running with the keys in the ignition. If caught you will be ticketed.

i used to work at an electronics store and a friend of mine installed an astroflux qs-2, it works perfectly, it wont start if in gear and e brake has to be engaged, i love it, and as for why would you have remote start?? apparently you dont live where it gets very very cold....

Pearl96Max and maxgtr2000 posted really good info. Mine's a hybrid of both of theirs... you gotta exit w/the car on (think of turbo timer shutdown) and I hooked up the neutral position sensor. With 2 separate protections, I feel better.

A nice feature is the temp sensor. Set it so if temps go down to 30 degrees, car starts for a few minutes, then shuts off. I imagine this will be helpful for people who live in snow areas, where you don't want fluids freezing or snow on your windows in the morn.

are they really illegal in some states? and if so, is that for insurance reasons and theft and such?

I have a viper 791 xv 2 way alarm with remote start installed. got it done at a place in queens no questions asked. ive also seen people rolling and smoking blunts in their cars while work is getting done to them inside the shop with the installers in the car at this place. they do some crazy work ive seen them putting scissor doors on a navigator.

anyway, ive had no problems with my remote start, and i love the 2 way paging alarm. people are always throwing footballs etc around in the parking lot where i park and every time my car is hit i go out and set those ****ers strait.

i would rather spend the money on more suspension/power/wheels....any fo the 3.....i just wake up and go start my car before i hop in the shower on those cold buffalo mornings

i had a clifford on my 3rd gen. i paid 600 bucks for it installed. i would like to get one for my 4th gen as well. its nice on those cold winter mornings. and even on those hot summer days. i dont work in a safe neighborhood, so leaving the car on outside with the keys in it is not an option for me. i used to close up hte store and leave. no waiting.

i want one for my 4th gen, but i do not want to pay 600 again.

Remote start is perfect for people who live in Phoenix, when the temp is 120 outside and 180 with my black leather, think about being able to start the car on your way out of the mall and getting into a car fully cooled down rather then entering a car ready to melt.

i have the viper 791xv 2-way remote start/security on my 5spd.....JUST MAKE SURE U HAVE THE CAR IN NEUTRAL....i know all the bad things that can happen from experience...

hey guys i have a question( i know its the right thread but i am noob so can't start a new thread)
i have a car starter on my 96 SE 5 speed.
It stopped working after a while cause i think there is a sensor from the hand brake that is defective. When i pull the hand brake the red lite doesnt go on anymore which probably cause my car starter not to work
Anyone has an idea of the part i need to change? I called the dealer and he told me he needs to know the part number. He can't diagnose the problem
help anyone?
