i have a car starter on my 96 SE 5 speed.
It stopped working after a while cause i think there is a sensor from the hand brake that is defective. When i pull the hand brake the red lite doesnt go on anymore which probably cause my car starter not to work
Anyone has an idea of the part i need to change? I called the dealer and he told me he needs to know the part number. He can't diagnose the problem
help anyone?
thanks
He won't be able to diagnos the problem at all because it's not a factory part. you can't get a factory started esp on a 5 speed.

Heard an ad here in Maine. A company called DR. Stereo does installs on remote start for manuals. I think they are in the New England area, not sure what their price range is though.

Youve had experience with the wrong installers then. If done properly there is no "bad things" that can happen.

19 inch rims are a waste of money... remote start is the greatest thing since sliced bread... i guess you have to have it before you can appreciate it... i live in Illinois where its currently 15 degrees right now... nothing better than warming up your car before leaving to work or school...

umm.. I like 19z...but on the remote start. I refuse to sit in the car and wait for my windshield to defrost AND the temp needle to get into proper operating temperature range.

I'm thinking about getting remote start for my 98 Max but I have been thinking about parking in gear and using the neutral saftey switch and stuff. If you bypass the clutch switch but use the Neutral Saftey switch then does that mean even if you get in the car and push the clutch (which wouldnt matter at this point anyway) it still wouldnt start if it was in gear? Just one of those little things that would get on my nerves, having to put the car back in Neutral to start it every time. I park in Neutral anyway but when it is in gear I just start it in gear. Or is there another option so it will still start in gear if you have the clutch in but use some kind of relay to check the Neutral switch for remote start? If that confused anyone I am sorry, it made sense in my head.

How long's that take? Wasn't there a thread discussing warm-up time?

Maverick7687: your car acts "normal" in regular situations, where you turn the key yourself. The clutch and neutral switch works the same.

When you are remote starting, your alarm senses if your car is in neutral or gear. If it's in gear, nothing happens. If it's in neutral, it sends a ground signal to the clutch, so the car may be started.

why get remote start? sure you can just go outside 15 min early in the morning and turn it on so its nice and warm to go.

but what about after work? i dont want to be going outside and turning the car on and leave it unattended for 15 min before i can go home. plus i dont think the boss would like that too much... a remote start with a good range would do the trick.

just have to fix the post transmission removal starting problems before i go throwing remote start in

I've done probably 3 5 speed max's including my own. IT's super simple. Get the locks in the door. Brake wire sucks but prepare for it early and it's easy. Window mod's are easy if you want them. Trunk pop requires a realay on dei alarms and You have to program for a double pulse and that's all there is to it. I've also added back up battery and a proximety sensor. Wich I love. To each his own. I just know what if feels like to have a car stolen and stripped.

Not all of them require locks in the doors.

Brake wire is cake if you know alternate spots for it.

Double pulse isnt on all of them either.

No relay for 6th gens.

I've recently added a remote start to my 99 Maxima. The install seemed easy enough. Only one problem, my key has a chip in it and I need to bypass that. I bought a 556uw transponder interface. I have that installed with the exception of the antenna. I put the antenna ring around the factory transponder ring at the ignition but it didn't work. The instructions offer alternate instructions which include wiring it into the factory transciever but I can't seem to figure out which wires to use. Anybody have some experience with this? I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,
Kierslee
