My brakelights won't light up....Help!

They turn on but when I push on the brake pedal, they don't get brighter. Could it be a bulb or a fuse? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

the brake light is a dual filiment bulb. one of the filiments is probably burned out. bulb is 1157

If its happening to all of your brakelights check the fuses

Check the fuse, if the fuse is not blown it is the brake switch, which btw is a pain to get to.

Do your parking lights come on? Theyre on the same circuit. I had this happen where I kept blowing fuses. Turned out to be a wire rubbing against the metal on the trunk lid and causing a short.

It made me absolutely furious for about 5 days before I found it. I fixed it that day in january when it was 8 degrees in NYC.

One bad bulb can make this happen too. Check your fuse first. Then the bulbs. Both tail light bulbs and the parking lights. Sometimes if you just remove and reinstall the bulb they will start working.

If that doesnt work just repost and we'll move on from there.

I'm having a similar issue except the brake lights don't work at all. When i brake with the parking lights off, nothing. When i turn the parking lights on, they light up on the brightest setting, as if the brake lights are already on. This is strange indeed. Any insight fellas??

i had the same issue, it's the Tail.L 7.5 fuse,...it's in the bottom-left corner. you should see 2 7.5's ....replace the upper one kept blowin on me, then i replaced it with a 10 amp fuse, lights stayed on, but i'd get a shock everytime i got out my car and touched the door.

There could be many things, my advice is to check everything thoroughly, from the fuse to the connection, it shouldnt be too hard.

I checked those fuses and they're fine. Anyone else have an opinion as to what the issue could be?

I fixed the issue yesterday. It was the Stop L. 15 fuse that blew. Replaced it and they work again. Thanks everyone for your input.
