Unorthodox Racing Flywheel -- Anyone with actual experience??

Does anyone have any actual experience with the Unorthodox Racing flywheel for the Maxima?

I keep hearing that it has "possible" driveability issues because it's just too damn light, but I haven't heard from anyone who actually has one.

Alright, that's two votes for "driveability issues are a myth"... anyone else?

Thanks guys.... With all the fuss, I'd have thought it'd be a total PITA.

I have the Stillen flywheel but its the same as the UR, their produced by the same Co..
I have had no issues with mine. The rpm's climb much quicker with it.
I have mine paired with an Exedy clutch and love the combo.

Dont Ever Buy Anything From Unothodox!!!!!!!!!!! I Have Their Flywheel And 3 Of Their Clutches And I Have The Worst Clutch Chatter That I Have Ever Felt In My Life. I Regret Using Their Equipment. As Far As The Driveability Issue...let Me Clear This Up Once And For All...the Flywheel Is Not To Light!! In Fact It Was One Of The Biggest Noticable Improvements Made On My Car...knocked My 1/4mile Time Down .2 And The Sucker Lays Tire Uncontrolably W/ The Clutch Pedal Out If I Just Romp On The Throttle The Tires Break Loose Like Theres Oil Under Them! Didnt Do This W/ The Stock FLYWHEEL.

What about the UR flywheel with a SPEC Stage 2, ACT Stage 1, or Clutchmasters Stage 2 clutch kit? Thoughts?

Why do you need a stage 2?
Many have claimed the ACT clutches have a lot of chatter.

I have the AASCO who makes UR's flywheels flywheel. It is definitely a great mod. It does take a small change in driving habits but definitely worth it.

I have a lot of clutch chatter with my ACT street clutch. Is this just because its a performance clutch or is there any way to get rid of it?

UR flywheel is a POS. That thing is a fraud, it's not really a replacement flywheel. They claim it as being 5lbs, but that's because it only replaces the hub of the stock flywheel. The stock outer area, starter gear and timing ring are still used, so it doesn't end up being much lighter than stock. People say drivability doesn't change, and that's because it's barely any lighter!
My Fidanza is a much better improvement. It's actually a whole aluminum flywheel, not some crappy insert. Only the thin timing ring needs to be transferred over. Revs drop significantly quicker, and taking off from a stop requires a few hundred rpm more to do smoothly.

Even after its assembled with the OEM parts, it is still lighter then the OEM item and lighter then the Fidenza. The Fidenza is just slightly lighter then the OEM item.
I weighed both my OEM complete and the Stillen (which is the same as the UR) when it was assembled with the outer ring gear and it weighed around 12lbs. The OEM flyhweel is way over 17lbs.

As far as clutches go, their have been many threads in regards to them.
many like the ACT, and many blame the ACT for killing Trannies and say they are too extreme.
From my personal experience, the Exedy stage 1 is a great clutch.
It grabs very well, and its driveablity is very good as well.
Its slightly stiffer then stock, but not so extreme that it gives your leg a workout in traffic.
I also get no chatter with the Exedy

The plot thickens!

How much does a complete Fidanza flywheel weigh with the stock parts then?

I dug up an old post on this subject I what I had originaly posted was with the Stillen flywheel alone, it weighed 7lbs. Once assembled with the outer ring gear it came close to 10lbs., the Fidanza weighs 12 and the stock weighs in at 17.3 lbs.

Yeah, in this thread I originally did. Sorry.
Its been a long time since I weighed them, thats why I went back and searched for the past thread regarding the weights.
If you look at the link I posted, its over 5 mo. old when we discussed this before.
Bottom line is, its still lighter then both the Fidanza and OEM.

My bathroom scale weighs the AASCO flywheel and oem parts (flywheel, gear, and timing gear and bolts) at 14 lbs.

Get out of the parking lot and star driving on the street so you can improve your clutch feeling skills. "romp on the throttle" <-- you gotta be kidding me. And go get better shoes for your Max. PM me and I send you a good info to read regarding launch teq. on FWD and RWD.
