Koni shock Install - Need Help adjusting stiffness??
I just installed my rear Koni shocks yesterday. I have a 96 Maxima GXE. I have 2 questions:
1. How tight is the nut that holds the shock assembly together supposed to be? The nut that is screwed onto the shock piston.
2. Also, how do you adjust the shock's firmness? I read the instruction manual, but it doesn't make much sense. I tried compressing the assembly and turning the upper mounts clockwise and counter clockwise, but nothing happened. Am I suppose to hear any clicks? What is the deal with these adjustables?
Help will be appreciated!
Thanks

Chilton's says 43-58 ft. lbs for that nut.
To adjust the front you just use that white platic **** and adjust the stiffness in the engine bay. For the rear, the insert has to be out of the car. Compress it ALL THE WAY DOWN unitl you hear it click into the valve. Then you can turn it clockwise or counter clockwise to adjust the valve opening (flow through the valve). I'm not sure which way was stiffer, but you can tell when you let the insert uncompress. If it uncompresses quickly then it's on soft. If it uncompress slowly then it's on stiff.

You'll have to slowly turn the shaft after it is compressed until you hear it engages the internal adjustment mechanism. DO NOT FORCEFULLY TURN it afterwards!
