2000-and up maxima vs. 95-99 max

What makes the 2000 and up 3.0 maximas so much stronger then the 95-99? are the parts interchangeable? what else can i do to my max? I have a Y pipe, CAI, Exhaust. It seems like theres nothing else to do besides a Chip. Please give me some advise. THANKS

are they that much stronger ? nissan only gave the 5.0 gens the better intake manifold to keep the 4th gens from being untouchable !! lol !

I personally would never get a 5th gen Maxima, and let's not even get started on what they did to the 6th gen Max...what a disgrace, they should've called it something else. Well, enough of my ramblings. 4th gen =

I personally wouldn't get a new 6th gen Maxima. It seems to me that it's tailored for the old. I'd rather get a g35. Or 5th gen. 5th gens aren't THAT bad.

I dunno why I feel like the only one, but I think the G35 (and I know its faster by a small margin) is butt ugly. It does not look like a performance sedan to me...too upright and narro looking from the front, fenders arent flared as much as the 6th gen, headlights are upright...just dosent look sleek. Its too small too...i sacrificed some power and (possible) quality for the look i guess. Same motor and tranny anyway.

Aren't the 2000 Maxima the slower of the 5th generation models?

3.5 in 4thgen >>> 5thgen 3.5 >> 5thgen 3.0 in 4thgen > 4thgen 3.0

wow this sucker got off topic quickly.

My $.02, my mom drives a 2003 SE, and I'm a big fan of it, though I haven't really gotten to push it much. My friend has a 2002 SE, and he says body roll is much worse than on his 97 SE, but the power is really nice.

Personally, I really like the looks of the 4th gen, but the 5th gens aren't too bad either, and I love the 5.5 gen power plant. I also really like G35's, though only the sedan version (G35x = the sweetness). The coupe looks too much like the 350z, which I'm not a huge fan of, but I'm slowly growing to like it. I was raised a 300zx guy and 4th gen maxima guy, so those are always going to be my favorite http://300zx-twinturbo.com/sigs/blue02.jpg < so sexy!

For the 00vi, check out the all motor forum, there is a sticky at the top of the page that has all the information, though be warned, it is not a plug and play mod.

the 2000-2001 motor made 32 extra ponies w/ basically the same block and heads. how can you bash that? also the 3.0 liter can take more horses w/out having to do internals than the 3.5 so if anything the best maxima to get for mods is the 2k-2k1. most people say this is the worst years for the maxima but i think it is the best.

The 2000 added 32 horsepower and the 2001 added 37 horsepower. I understand that the 4th Gen are faster at the bottom end and the 00/01 are faster at mid-range on up. With a few mods, I think the 4th Gens can stay with them or beat them across the band. I think I could hang with one on the highway with just my 5-speed tranny, K&N filter and Budget Y-pipe as my engine is strong and only has 57,500 highway miles on it. Perhaps I'm dreaming but I had the car up to 145 mph about 8 years ago before I ever got the Y-pipe.

The 4th and 5th gens are the best Maximas . The fourth gens ane the best, but anyways, here's something interesting. If you google"maxima history" ,and click on the first link, it'll tell you about all the Maxima generations, including the "floaters". But the real kicker is how they diagram the performance tests. Between the 95' and the 00' cars, the times are about the same-in fact, the 95' manual is the fastest car tested. It turns out that on the 5th gens, the ideal powerband is above the rev limiter. Thus, the acessible power is the same as the fourth gen, and thus is the speed. Unless your not big on the style, the fourth gen is the better car performance-wise, and is easier to modify than the later cars.
