Mine quit around 130k. Now I use a wooden stick that actually works very well.

Mine works on warmer days. But I used vise grips, a trick my dad taught me when I was younger.

I just replaced mine, but if they go out again I'll probably steal a prop rod from a junker and fit it to the max.

Why's the hood so damn heavy on these cars ?! Its like 50 pounds !
I almost want to by a CF hood (if one exists) and replace mine so
I don't have to lift the damn thing anymore.

But yeah I don't deal with hood struts anymore I got a prop rod from my old 87 Camry
and never looked back.

Theres spots to hook in prop rods too just take a quick look around the engine bay.

you must be pretty weak... These cars hoods aren't so extremely heavy. My fiance drives a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT coupe. That things hood weighs about 65-70 pounds.

Mine were replaced 3 years ago with Autozone struts and they started going out this year so i took 2x4 laying around in my garage and am using that. Works Great and it was free!

I have a piece of scrap wood that I stick in there to hold it up. Only ghetto thing about my car.
