Headlight setup
Headlight setup
So I have a 96 Max GLE. I recently just purchased a new housing and hid kit from ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-99...item483a42076b
Basically, I was wondering before I installed them if this setup will look nice even without having projectors. If I was to install projectors on this new housing unit, how would I go about doing it?
Also, I bought a few white led strips to put below the lights (new audi setup).
Also, I have the clear bumpers already installed, anyone know how to make the lights brigher (I already have led's in there for the 1156's and 194's but still not bright)?
I will post pics when everything is installed but I just wanted input on how to go about setting up my lighting. Thanks in advance.

If you use the setup as is u will be blind everyone, get pulled over and your output will suck.

Ditch the LEDs.
If you want LED functional lights in the brakes, turning lights, parking lights, tail lights, etc, the only way to do it properly is to get a custom-made circuit board from Kzoosho or Kevlo911 that uses high quality name-brand LEDs and voltage regulation, and install it into the tails or turn signals.
If you only want "audi style" LED DRLs that are in addition to (NOT in replacement of) your incandescent lights, then you can use a strip.
But do NOT replace existing incandescent bulbs with either PnP LED 'bulbs' or LED strips. The only way to safely REPLACE an incandescent bulb is with the custom circuit boards. You can install LEDs in addition to your existing incandescent setups for cosmetic purposes only, but you can not use any "Plug and play" LED equipment for SAFETY EQUIPMENT. Parking lamps, turn signals, tail lights, side markers, and brake lights are all safety equipment. There are detailed photometric requirements specified for these in FMVSS 108, and no plug-and-play aftermarket LED equipment meets these requirements. You are putting yourself and other drivers at risk if you're doing so.
The Maxus 09 caravan was a very nerve-wracking experience for me, since like half the 5th gen Maximas on this site have all-clear housings with ****tastic PnP LED bulbs in it, which means at day time the brake lights are nearly invisible. I spent the majority of the caravan with my eyes fixed on the tiny dim red dots in the tails of the car in front of me, so I'd know if I had to slow down.

1996 Maxima Headlight problem.
I have a 1996 Maxima with about 135k-150k miles on it.
About 8 months ago I noticed my left fog light was out. I knocked on it, and it came back on.
I have had to knock on it more and more often to get it to stay on.
About 2 months ago, the low bean stopped working on one of my headlights. I cannot remember which one it was.
I changed out both bulbs with some 'blue tint' bulbs that I got on Ebay.
The new bulbs seemed to work fine.
About a week ago, the low beam went out again on one of the headlights.
In the last few days the fog lights seemed to not be working at all.
Today;
1. The other low beam went out, so now I have no low-beams.
2. When the high beams are on, the fog lights do not work at all.
3. When the light switch is in the 'low beam' position, the fog lights seem to work fine, although the low beams are dead and I get zero light from the headlights.
If anyone knows any common causes for this in general, or specifically for this type of vehicle, please let me know.
If anyone can recommend a procedure to diagnose this problem, I would appreciate it.

Also I would guess your low's burnt out because you used cheap blue ebay bulbs. Go to the local auto parts store and pick up some OEM sylvania bulbs and enjoy the long life and stock color.
The fog lights are designed to turn off on our cars when the high beams are turned on. If you want them to stay on search on here and you can find a how to on re-wiring them.

as for the inexpensive part. they cost almost as much as the other projectors... but i gave them a shot. its like 200 for them. n 220-240 for the others...
If you are doing a single projector retro, you should be fine. If you plan to do a 4 projector setup like i am doing for someone then you will still have to cut and fit. I will post pics of the retro soon.
I'm not using the R34 housings.......I'm using the Euro clear housings. I'm planning a quad retrofit, but the inner lights will be used as DRLs. I thought about doing a quad retrofit with the R34s but I'm not a fan of one-piece headlights.
