window tint in NYC
Hey,
does anyone know of a good place that does tint in NYC (Brooklyn is even better)? I checked out one place- they seem to be good but a bit steep @ 175. Also, they use Lumar tint- comes with 10 yr guarrantee, but did anyone hear of them?
Also, I think 35% is the legal limit here, but what do most people get? I don't want anything too dark, but nothing that looks as if there is no tint either.
Thanks in advance

I think that the legal limit is a ridiculous 70% in NY. 35% IMO is way too light. You can barely tell there is tint unless it's night time. I had a guy recommended by my mechanic do mine. I don't think I have the number anymore though cuz I had it done over a year ago. He charged me $140 for 5 windows. I had it done at 20%. You probably won't have any trouble in NYC with it, but you might out of the city.
how did you have only 5 windows done??? theres 7 that need tinting.. i paid 175 with no tax for all 7 windows and the front visor also... i have llumar with a lifetime guarantee... its a good tint i had it on my old car. and yes llumar is a very known brand most places use it
there are many good spots..
I just don't reccomend you going to a place on 18th ave. and 85th street. They did my tint for 150$, 20% all around, (no windshield ofcourse). Yes, the price is fair, but, they did a half-assed job. I have a 1/4 inch gap between the door panel and where the tint begins on the drivers side window when it is rolled up, u can see a flash of light coming through and that ****ing line bothers the hell out of me, u can see it on the car from the outside a bit as well. Then on every single window, the film ends way too soon, and there is a 1/2 inch UNtinted at the top on all windows, plus they didn't cut it out well, so it's all curved and stuff... That's not all, I asked them specifically, how they do the rear window, they said 2-3 pieces, but they put the space between the film, on the defogger lines so it won't be noticeable, that came out to be bull**** as well.. I have a 5-6 piece rear window, with lines curved all over the place, u can definately see it is ****ed up. My friend just got tints on his WV Golf, somewhere on Coney Island ave. for 170$ with warranty, they did a great job I'll ask him where exactly..
llumar tint is rumored to be great tint.. if I had to do it over again, I'd rather spend extra 20$ to have it done right.....

you would be better off at coney island and neptune,"guaranted alarm" it has a car on its roof. go there and talk to them, they did my buddy car and his friends, saw them, and some of them been done 1-2 yrs ago and still looks like new.
any qq, feel free to ask!

Re: there are many good spots..
I don't think they are an "alarm shop", even though I am sure they do install them. They are a block or so north of Rsputin, on the same side of the road. It's the intersection of CI & some small street. They are also next door to the pain store. They have a lot of different rims in the windows, which is, I think, their specialty.
thanks though
