I have a '99 Maxima had a slight pull to the right from the day I bought it. My big mistake was not taking it back to the dealer right away. Now with 40,000 miles on the car I guess it is up to me to find the source.

The original tires were Yokahamas. I noticed the pull changed as I rotated the tires. I never narrowed it down to a specific tire, but I never tried. It was time for a tire change, so I thought I would make sure I fixed this problem. I got the car aligned and then had the tires replaced. I picked up the car and immediately found the car pulling even harder. I had the alignment checked again. They said it was fine and that there must be a bad tire. The car was pulling to the left so, I had the left tire checked and replaced. No change. Then, someone told me that the trouble tire was sometimes opposite of the pull if a bad tire is at fault. I took the right tire and rotated it to the back of the car. Amazingly the car now drives straight.

What are the chances of 2 sets of tires having the same problem? Is the Maxima steering really sensitive and this might be why?

Any experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve Maye

Bad wheel?

Two sets of tires had the same symtom, and rotating them changed the symptom. Hmmm. What did those two sets of tires have in common? They were mounted on the same wheels. You may have a wheel problem, rather than a tire problem.
