unfortunately all you need to steal out cars is a screwdriver. Same with honda, but the process is much easier and cleaner, you dont even have to break the ignition. I say wire a kill switch somewhere in your car, wire it where you think no crook would ever look. An alarm system only slows down the crooks who really want your car, but a pager helps.

Wow, Glad you got the car back its kinda bitter sweet to ge the car back but shes in such a bad condition but atleast you wont have to come out of pocket more for another car.

If I were you I would live in the classified here. There are many people selling Bose units, check as much as you can to try and get a set of leather sets, etc. ALso check with junk yards you should be able to find some parts you need for dirt cheap.

good luck with the rebuild. Make her better than before.

1st off everyone should move to cliffside park, egdewater, fairview or fortlee. Thats all 3 min from the city, you can see the city right across, the cost of living is cheaper gas is cheaper and guess what these towns are considered mid-high class towns. Nobody ever steals cars here its very very peaceful.

2nd off everyone should always get an alarm upgrade as a 1st mod. For those in the city its better to get a viper alarm with a proxy sensor kill switch ect ect.. before adding a system or clear conors. its better to have a broken window then getting back half of your car.

3rd Im sorry about your car. It seems that lately a lot of maximas are being stolen in nyc. My insurance for this car just went up 500 bucks due to the fact that they are going back on the number 1 list of highest stolen vehicle. Best thing to do is get a clutch lock or a pedal lock. I use that with my alarm system which is a viper with proxy sensor and other ****s and giggles.

Take care.

Everyone should move to NJ, Westchester, CT, or LI today....thats the best option we have. Alarms deter theft they dont prevent it....like bluestealz said, get a pager and a .45ACP or a 44 Mag (9mm dont have enough stopping power). All these threads about stolen maximas in nyc are making me nervous.

Having a car without a garage is ok, but a modded car without a garage. You are asking for trouble. I'm holding myself back as much as possible and try not to mod the car. After two years, 98% of my car is stock. I only change the lights on certain areas, but nothing big. I don't want to attract any attention when I hangout (especially Brooklyn). 98% stock with 4X4 look.

Good luck finding parts for your car.

you need to host it on a wesite. Try photobucket.com then you put a link to the url on here with image tags around it like this [*IMG]url[*/IMG] Just remove the stars in the tags.

Comprehensive covers everything that can happen to the car while not moving. Fire, theft, vandalism, flood, tree falling on it, whatever... I had my last car stolen with only liability and learned my lesson. It also had the interior, audio and battery stolen. Fortunately i restored it with junkyard parts for only $500. Later, the car was broken into and speakers stolen, but that time i had insurance. Got $1300 from the ins. company for the speakers (and labor required to fix damage caused by speakers being ripped out.) So my strategy is just have comprehensive insurance and not worry about it. It's only a car, it can always be replaced.

Fuel pump switch? Could that help? I mean the average thief probably doesn't have the time to trace where that wire is going if you hide the switch well.

-Both airbags
-all black leather seating
-Door handle covers
-Window switches
-Whole center console
-Rear trunk
-Rear tails
-Rear spolier
-Rear window
-Rear windows on the back doors
-Passenger side mirror
-Driver side wiper
-Front cornor lights
-New rims and tires

This is prob worth more than your entire car. Its best to sell it as is and get a new car.

You are in unususally high spirits. What happens if after you spend all this time and $, and the same crooks come back and screw you again?

I took my car to a car wash 4 days after I had my Viper 790xv installed with all the goodies. As it turned out, I left the keys in the car AND forgot to diable passive arming. Long story short, the Viper locked the keys in the car. It took a grand total of 20 seconds for personnel in the car wash to break into the car so that I could retrieve the keys.

Lesson: pretty much anyone can break into my car.

My car is a 99 with the engine immobilizer and the transponder key, so it might survive an extra 20 secs in NYC. But most thieves cant tell the difference between a 98 and a 99, so either one will end up getting broken into with extensive damage... even if they can't actually get the car. Maximas are amongst the most often stolen cars on this coast (#4 in NY, #7 in PA, #16 in D.C., #5 in NJ, #12 in MA...
so not sure what to tell you besides advising you to get the best security system possible, + comprehensive on top of that...

Alot of the stats are misleading regarding Maximas and stolen cars. Most of the numbers I've seen state total "theft related" insurance claims. That means all those stolen 5.5 gen xenon headlamps tend to inflate the numbers.

Take out the battery for a night o.O Did that in Russia and stoped some people
About killswitch, does it really work?
Also, those lojacks for the pedals I heard are the best
Hooking your alarm to a 2nd battery is also good, since it'll continue Alarming even if they desable your main battery
