How to Activate/Arm Factory Alarm in 96

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a 1996 Maxima Gle, and went to install an aftermarket alarm but someone told me that this year and model came with one, and sure enough it was true.....so my question is? How to arm it? or activate it? is it dun with the remote etc...and also how do you know when it is activated..thanks.

Lock the doors using the big gray button on the keyless remote. Your lights should flash twice, meaning the alarm is activated.

Ah, I just noticed you're in Tampa. What part? As for the alarm, I never HEARD my alarm, which is probably not good. I just press it for the doors to lock, and the pretty lights to flash.. Maybe one of my fuses are blown..

You have to hold it for several seconds for the alarm to activate. Pressing the large button only locks the doors and activates the system. But only if the door is unlocked from the inside will it sound. It has no proximity or motion sensors.

Aftermarket alarms are ALWAYS a good upgrade from a factory alarm.
