I mean a STRAIGHT swap. I was going to buy a 2001 engine with 31,000 mis but I wasnt sure how much trouble it'd be to put it in..

it depends on what you want to use. i did the swap from a 2001 i put in my 97. i didnt use the vi because of all the fabrication and wiring issues though. there will be some small fabrication because of the diffrences in the block but its still the same horsepower w/out the vi so unless you are doing it because your old engine blew up there is really no point.

So even if you use the VI and a TB there is still a considerable amount of fabrication?

if you use the vi and t/b then there is alot of fabrication. if you dont then there is just a little fab.
