Darn 0304 code
Darn 0304 code
Last night driving home from work, I thought the car felt weird, as though no matter how much gas I was giving it, it didn't have the spunk it did yesterday or the previous week. Well, today as the temperatures went up, I decided to head over to my friends house to help work on his tailamp project that he has going. Along they way, I felt that the car was sluggish, but I thought maybe that was due to the temperature and I was just crazy. Then down the drive more, it seems as though there was inconsistant performance. I got to my friends house, I decided to lurk around the stickies above to find out how to read ECU codes. Well, as it turns out, I have 3 long blinks and 4 short links.....
0304 knock sensor code
I'm going to call around for prices on Monday but in the mean time, I've read up on using a standard 470K lead resistor to fool the KS into thinking there is the correct voltage. I went to autoparts stores but they don't seem to carry them. What type of stores should I be looking at for one
It seems to be inconsistant, which would mean mine is about to die. I cleaned out the connector along with the subconnector. Dirt popped right of of them as soon as they released. I drove back home and the acceleration was back, it didn't seem like the ECU was pulling timing, or going into a default safe mode. I decided to disconnect the battery (negative) to clear the code for now and see if it returns back in a couple days of driving. I figured it I still get the 0304 code, Im just going to use the resistor as a temporary fix until I can get a new KS.

As far as I know, disconnecting the battery will not clear the code(s). You have to turn the screw on the ECU to reset it. By the way, I'm pretty sure there was a knock sensor GD or something. Maybe it was in the 4th gen "for sale" section. I'd check it out. Good luck.
