Free....

I have a 1996 Max with 109,000 miles and I have two problems:

1-I am getting a bad fuel smell after I get gas inside the cabin. Any idea what could be causing it?

2-When I put my car in reverse a give it gas it stalls, but if I put the car in reverse and just let it roll on it's own no problems. Any ideas?

1) stop drinking petroleum products. nasty flatulence is only part of the problem.
2) fuel filler neck could be damaged or corroded.

you are smelling gas from a your gas lines around your fuel filter...they are rubber and expand and contract with age. Pick youself up a new fuel filter and some new rubber lines youll be straight....a good self diagnosis is to know when the gas smell is more prevalent...if it is more on colder days then bingo! its the gas lines

as far as putting the car in reverse....Im not sure..tough to diagnose with such a vague description...does matter of the car is warm or not....is it consistent or inconsistent (does it only stall in reverse sometimes?)

1-The fuel smell is whenever I get gas. The fuel filter is relative new and so is the one of the rubber line(the one that goes from the injector rail to the filter)

2-It only stalls in reverse pretty much all the time no matter what the temp is. It only does it when I acellerate in reverse.

I always have my doors and windows closed when I refuel. The fuel filter is relativally new.

1. Check the fuel lines.
2. Clean/Replace crankshaft sensor.

Thanks for all your help. I am going to check the filler neck and replace the crankshaft sensor and see what happens.

the reverse problem happened with my 280zx. the air filter was really dirty (totally blocked) so when trying to go in reverse there was no positive air flow, but when i went forward it was fine, just a little boggy. this was a pretty unique experience for me so it may or may not be anywhere close to what your problem is.

I believe the CkPS is just like the Camshaft PS in that it will throw a code, but won't trip the CEL until it has starting trouble twice in a row. My experience with CkPS and CmPS mostly involved the car not starting.

So check your codes and use that as a starting point.
