I am replacing my front bumper. I'm looking at copartfinder for a used one that's already the same color, otherwise I'll get a new one and get in painted at a body shop. Estimates for new bumpers painted and installed range from $630 to $800. Is that about right? They all charge $207 for the OEM bumper cover. How hard is it to remove the old one and install the new one? Is this something that I could do on my own, without any previous car body experience, or is it very difficult to make it come out right? Anyone switched bumpers or anything like that? Thanks in advance for any advice.

it shouldn't be that hard.. should only be Clips and bolts..

go to a barnes and noble.. or borders bookstore near you.. find a Maxima Manual .. skip through a couple pages and look at the bumper install.. i think you might be able to photocopy i am not sure.. see if its a hard task for you..

You paid $160 to get them painted? Did the $130 from ebay include S&H? How long did it take for you to do the installation?

What color is yours? Mine is pearl white, and looks like it will cost 160 for labor and 80 for materials, just to paint. I looked on ebay and called around the places on copartfinder.com (I think that was the site) and couldn't find anything. So I'm just paying the 207 for the bumper cover. Maybe I will install it myself, though. That'll save at least $160. What tools will I need? Will I want more than one jack? I really have no experience with this stuff. Thanks a lot!

You can't photocopy anything at Barnes & Noble. Don't know about Borders but I'm pretty sure you can't do it there either.

It would still be worth checking out the manual. piopremier, is there a lot of stuff in that manual that I'l need, or is it pretty straightforward? Can you give me all the info, or you think I should try and figure it all out at Barnes and Noble? Thanks a lot.

bumper

my bumper was painted pebble beige and i don't know how much it would cost you to get it painted. i do know that you can get it alot cheaper than you have found but if your happy with that price than go for it. as far as the installion. i didn't have a manual i just figured it out. i can tell you there are 3 screws on the top 3 on each side and i think 5 on the bottom. the side ones are alittle hard to get to at first but you'll get it. and then you have to take out the head lights. there nothing you can really mess up

I just ordered the $207 one. I'd rather get it over with, and I didn't see anything that much cheaper, especially after shipping, opening up soon anyway. thanks anyway. And thanks for the advice. He's going to paint it tomorrow, and we'll do the switch hopefully tomorrow evening. Any other advice you have, I'd love to hear. What tools did you use? Thanks a lot. I'm saving $166.50. You can email at budha56@yahoo.com, if you think of anything. I'll probably come online tomorrow with some questions. Later.

the only tools you need are a philps and flathead screwdriver and a 10mm socket. make sure you have an extender and i would use a 1/4 head and a small ratchet to get in the small spots on the sides. on the driver side you can get to the sides when you take the head lights out and on the passenger side your gonna have to get them from under the car. other than that its pretty easy.

Thanks a lot. I'll probably do the switch Thursday night, so be ready for some more questions. lol. It doesn't look too bad at all.

I want to purchase a used bumper off of a '97+ Maxima to do the front end conversion, but was wondering if anyone knew if the white from the '95/96 is the same as the white on the post '97? Or do I just have to repaint the whole thing? Thanks

PioPremier... is the bumper you have on your car ONLY available on the 97 and up maxima? and all the bumpers on the 95-96 max are the other style? i know of 2 syles... the one you have and the one my 96 GXE has... are there any others? thanks guys.

im not sure what your asking so ill just tell you what i know. i have a 95 max but i just got a 97 bumper. in 95 and 96 they used the same bumper and in 97 they changed it to the one i have now and that is used for 97, 98, and 99's. now there are slight changes from model to model like from gle to se's there are foglight cutouts but its the same bumper. if you do change from a 95,96 to a 97,98,99 you also need a newer grill. hope this helps
