I have owned my 97 maxima gle for about 2 1/2 years now. I have 170,000 miles on the motor and i got a new tranny at 145,000, yes a new automatic
. Since my motor is now getting a little old and sluggish and since i have recently fell into a good amount of money, what do my fellow maxima owners suggest i do. Buy a new motor and do a 5 speed swap. Or buy a new maxima. Taken into consideration i have spent a large amout of money on my maxima (performance, suspension, audio) and the shell of the max is in mint condition(Black on black leather, white face guages, tints) If anyone can please give me their input that would be great.

Obviously find out what is wrong with the existing motor and set it right. There are a lot of cars on the Board with considerably higher mileage than yours. Alternatively buy a low-mileage 2003 Max and keep the old one as a daily driver if you have as much money as you think you have.
