Bad 02 Sensor.

I just came back from Auto zone. I got check engine light last night. P0138 bank 1 O2 sensor is bad. I do have a extended Warranty when i bought my car. Here is the problem. I have a Short Ram Intake and a y-pipe. Should I Waste my time by going to the stealer ship and have them look at it and tell me it is not covered under the extended warranty, because i have a after market stuff in my car? Some one give me an opinion on this. My Deductible is 100 bucks.

Do it yourself so you don't have to pay $100. An O2 sensor is about $30 under your deductable and its easy to replace. But if you must go to the dealer, I would imagine the technician would frown on that Y-pipe more than the Intake. The technician will first notice that the precats are missing and that would automatically trigger something in his head that it was altered and more than likely would deny you warrany coverage.

Obviously there is more than one stealership in your neck of the woods. Is the extended warranty good at any dealership - one would think so. Just take it to a stealer that you don't normally do business, or conversely take it to one you do normally do business with and if they turn you down threaten to take your business elsewhere from now on and see if they rise to the bait. The best defence is a good offence, lol!

Ok thank you, That's what I will do I guess. How much can you get a O2 sensor for. They not going to give me the part under my warranty? I don't remember they said they will do that.

I think what he is trying to say is that the O2 sensor is about $70. Why don't you phone the stealer and find out? If it boils down to the labor component only being $20 or $30 then I say try them on for size.

Most dealers will not give you a part under warranty unless they install it for you. I would check to see how much it'll cost first and see if they'll actually do it. Who knows? The technician might brush off the aftermarket Y-pipe and just install the O2 sensor for you for just the deductable cost

You can find OEM O2 sensors as cheap as $70-$80 on the internet but don't for a second think that your local stealership will give you that price. One here in Pittsburgh quoted me $175!!

Try partznet.com or oxygensensorwholesale.com
