Idle problems

When I first turn on my Max in the morning, the idle always climbs up to 1300 for like 15 mins., then it slowly drops down to 700 where its supposed to be. Can anyone explain this problem I am having?

your car is in open loop. you need to warm up your car. start the car, and then drive, dont wait 15 mins. wait 30 secs max. if you wait 15 mins your cylinder bores and pistons are wearing out faster than normal. peak operating temperature is about 210 degrees, not ambient temps.

Thanks, but do you know why it starts out at 1300 rpm? Shouldnt it always be 700 rpm at idle?

idk, ask your ecu and tps sensors. this is normal for all cars. if you had 700rpms at start up, your car would stall. you need a rich fuel mixture on start up.

its completly normal. i'm sure on very cold days at first startup the idle may be even higher at first, like 1500 rpm's and then slowly work its way down as the engine warms up

It's very simple. When u start ur car, the engine temp is low. So instead of using the standard iac valve, ur ecm goes to the fast idle control, making ur car idling rev to about 1300, to warm up ur car faster. When it reaches normal operating temperature, goes back to iac, who is normaly set up to about 700 rpm.
