Doesnt really matter. They all do basicly the same thing. Might want to go with a known name brand just to insure qaulity.

i have a hood pin related Q, as far as the scratch plate, ive seen alot of people use some type of adhesive to stick the plate to the hood so they dont have to install those tiny screws into the hood. i wanted to know if this was a smart thing to do, meaning is it safe (i know they're jus scratch plates lol) and is it harmful for the hood finish.

id much rather glue them on then install them with the screws cause if i ever want to change the scratch plate (wether its personal preferance, or they are fading, or bady scratched...) i wont be left with the little holes in my hood. what type of glue is best for something like this.

Not too sure about the gluing thing. Seems like it would be okay .
But those plates are more then just scratch plates.
They offer support to the area around the pin.
Without them, the upward force could easily cause the CF around the pin to completly break away.

i shoulda thought of that, i know they are a pretty important part of the whole deal, still id much rather adhere them on then screw them in, any other commets anyone.

i have 1 more Q before i go ahead and put on my hood, i jus bought the moroso light weight aluminum kit. there are no holes on the scratch plate which would mean they arent meant to be screwed on, how will i mount them on the hood without them sliding off, or do i just remove the plate when ever i take the pins off?

and as far as finding a location to mount the kit, is there a scientific/safe method onto where to put them. i see every one mounting the kit at the very outter edges of the hood, obviously cause they have the stock center latch. i wanted to know is it okay for me to install them more towards the center since i wont be using the stock latch (its semi broken). i know it will look alot more different than other installs and i garuntee people will ask why i did that. i just want to know will it be ok?

PLEASE RESPOND ASAP, HOOD GOES ON TODAY, RIGHT AFTER THE BUMPER

Could you post a link to these pins?
Im unfamiliar with the no scew scratch plate.
As far as the pins go, you can basicly put them where ever you like, the trick is to just make them symetrical and evenly distanced on both sides.
To tell you the truth, I personlly wouldnt put all my faith in hood pins alone. You really should replace your broken latch.
The pins are there to "help" hold the hood down.

they look like this

they are called moroso light weight aluminum pins, this was the only moderately priced and silver colored one they have, i got these at 12 bux total, sparcos were 39 and only in red so i said screw that, plus i like the way these look. i asked the mechnic over there and he recomends using 6 pins and i said hold on there, its only a street car not a 11 second track car (they build track cars). he said "ok they should hold with no problem, in fact the closer they are together the better support you get" so feel a little more confident.

anyway, the hood wont go on today seeing how the bumper took so long to put on and still has some awkard gaps cause of some minor frame bendage on the bottom and around the headlight. ill put the hood on when everything is ready.

p.s i thought the scratch plate would have some sorta adhesive backing to hold it but i see nothing, lets try to figure somethin out, last resort would prob be some adhesive, ill check out some stuff online for something which wont damage the hood.

No problem.,
Those pins look good, the only thing that boggles me is that there is no way to secure them to the hood.
May want to try 3M doulde sided tape.
Its strong, and should be plenty strong enough tp hold the plates to the hood.
As far as your pin placement, I see your logic and it should work. One thing to rememeber though, is if you go more towards the center it might be hard to run those posts through the radiator support with the limited space there with the radiator.

Mine are mounted towards the outer edges for two reasons,
One, there were already holes on each side that had identical placement.
Two, their was more space there for me to run the posts through and still attach the nuts and get a tool into that area to tighten it.
You need some room to play with the posts.
You will have to continously adjust them up and down untill you get a desired and tight fit though the hood with the pins.

thanx man, ill try them toward the center and if i can get room to tighten the posts then ill jus install them more toward the outside, similar to yours, and ill jus try to fix up the latch.

thanx fo all your help, ill post pics of everything when im done.

The sparcos are the best, they dont rust and its a 1 piece unit so you have no pins to pull out and risk scratching your hood
