Power antenna stuck

Hey guys:

My antenna seems to be stuck in the up position. When I turn the ignition on and off, there is absolutely no noise coming from the motor. I don't think it's a fuse, because it sounded as if the motor was trying to lower it when it stopped.
Any troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

~J

Mine is stuck in the down position. Turn your car on and then off. Stick your head in the back and open up the middle armrest in the back seat and see if you can hear the motor trying to get it back down. If you can, buy a new mast.. its a common problem Mine is stuck in the down position.

Mine was stuck too. Honestly, I don't know of ANY 4th gen Maximas whose stock, oem, never-replaced antenna works flawlessly. Mine also kept getting stuck. I think there were some issues with them in production. My dad has a 94 Camry with 160k miles and his antenna is superior to the one in my Maxima with 78k miles.

Solution: Use some silicone spray. It helped me a LOT! Difference is night and day. ANtenna is no longer stuck.

I just recently replaced mine and works great... a PITA to get the broken mast out since it was stock down and i had to use nose pliers to get the thing and some liquid wrench helped too.

I got the aftermarket one from ebay. No problems. I also spray with antena open some liquid wrench around it and spread it up and down so it wont create rust. So far so good. no stuck

my max has been victim of 2 new antenna masts in 1 year. 1st (original) mast was replaced by my brother before giving the Max back to me, the other mast (replacement #1) was caused by the dealer leaving the antenna up while running it thru thier carwash, luckily they replaced it no cost
