Empty light?

Not sure if my "empty light" works or not. I have let the needle go below the ""E" mark and the light still doesn't go on. What i am asking is when does your light go on? I was afraid to let it go any further to see if the light would go on.

Ok so when does your light actually come on? Where is the needle when the light comes on? Is the needle before "E" , after "E" in the middle of "E" ?

There is not 4 to 5 gallons in reserve, there is under 2 gallons, say 1.8 gallons. The light will blink off on and on when on uneven slopes. It's not truly on until it is firmly on.

Ok now that we have that figured out , can someone answer my actual question? When does your light come on according to where your needle is?

Has anyone had problems with it "burning out" in the past? I have run it down several times in the past year and it used to always come on when I get any where near E, now I never notice it come on any more and have actually ran out of gas twice now in the last year. I believe mine is "burnt out". Any one else experience this?

Under spirited driving styles i never let the tank go below 1/4. As soon as i touches the 1.4 mark or maybe a little bit less if am far away HESS or BP make themselfs wealthier.

For me (tried it over a year ago) there's about 3 gallons left when it hits the E mark and the light comes on when there's about 1.5 gallons left, but I usually fillup around the 1/4 mark
