just took a fluid dynamics class so i feel the need to educate...

mufflers don't "make" power, your engine does. mufflers by design increase resistance on the flow of the exhaust. high performance exhausts descrease the amount of resistance on exhaust flow (which is why they are louder), which in turn helps increase output from your engine. The maximum possible power gain you could get out of a muffler would be the same as if you had no muffler, which is impossible because there will always be a little resistance from the muffler. so if you want to see if a muffler would even have a chance of increasing performance just take it off and see for yourself hah.

I thought that if you used stock piping and got a 4" inlet and outlet muffler it would give you huge gains.

Exactly. I have a Magnaflow muffler, along with a y-pipe, and catback, and I love it.

Just for the record (I don't wanna be left out) I have headers,y-pipe,and a cat back all stainless, mandrell bent and 2.5 in. the muffler that came with my cat back sounded horrible so I bought a magnaflow

Im currently using a magnaflow muffler on stock header, y, and res. Not loud at all but gives a nice growl with low RPM revs and with high rpms all you can hear is intake lol.

That only works if you have underbody neons, a park bench and a tach bigger than ur steering wheel.....

I'm actually thinking about getting a Magnaflow for my Maxima. I just want something that doesn't sound ricey, but has a growl to it like yours sounded in the video. How much different would it sound without the Y-Pipe? Anyone have a sound clip with just a Magnaflow muffler?

I have a magnaflow straight through muffler, catback, no resonator, and OE y-pipe. It sounds great to me
