motor mounts

Is there any way to check for damaged motor mounts without removing them?

the 4 mounts in my car were messed up. if when u shift gears the engine rocks, (have someone checking it while u do that) defenitely something is wrong. i know 3 of them u can see if they are damaged by just taking a look when u open the hood. but the tranny mount is gonna be a lil hard to check up. if the rubber is coming of, u gotta change the mount.

you can see if your engine is rocking through the gap between your opened hood and the dash. have it on P and give it a little gas while your looking through it.

ok, mines rocks when i shift from p to d or r. and when u are looking at the mounts (be outside in the hood and have some1 shift gears) u will see that the metal rod inside the rubber in the mount is either moving or staying still. if that metal rod that's cover by the rubber moves, is time to change the mount. do this check to all of them. i think i can take pix to my old mounts 2morrow if i find them, if i do, i'll post some for u.

also when you move the car to d or R you will notice ALOT of engine movement. if you break the front and back you can actually dent your hood

Yes the 4th one is not visible from the top. Its next to the rear bank exhaust manifold. If you go underneath the car you will see it bolted to the longitudinal crossmember.
