Have 99max SE Limited. 58000 miles. CEL came on several months ago with EGR hi/lo flow code. Stealership stated the EGR system needs to be completely cleaned including my wallet for around $400. Here is the interesting part. I have noticed the CEL will come back on when my gas tank is approximately 1/4 full and then disappear when I fill it up. Tried a new gas tank cap but the code came back on. Car runs like a champ, smooth idle, no pinging. I always use premium (91+). I would like to try and fix this myself before shelling out alot of $$. I don't quite understand how a CEL light can disappear when I fill up assuming I have a clogged EGR system? At 58000 miles? Anyone else experience this? Any ideas?

Ive got the same code. It'll turn off on the hwy but since most of my driving is in the city it's usually on.
