Very Weird Problem

Okay guys I have a strange stalling issue. When I hit a pothole or a dip in the road the rpm's fluctuate and the car cuts off. It also cuts off sometimes when i'm parking and try to go in reverse or park. It always starts right up after a couple trys. I replaced the spark plugs even though I used the bosch platinum plugs and cleaned the throttle body. There's also a p300 code which i believe is random misfire but it shouldn't cut off from that should it?

You say you have installed the Bosch platinum plugs. I wouldn't attribute your problem to that, but you should only use NKG plugs - the OEM plugs are platinum and many are using copper plugs - last 30K but are cheaper. When was the last time the fuel filter was replaced?

The car has 98,000 miles on it and I just got it in February. So the fuel filter probaly needs to be repalced.

The fuel filter should be replaced every 30K. Perhaps yours has been in there closer to 40K, if it was last changed at the 60K major service.

i had sorta the same problems parking & turning/shifting at slow speeds. idle wasnt solid & it felt like the car just wanted to shut off n die sometimes.

Had a diagnostics check it was my Idle Air Controller motor. put a new IAC motor in and my problems were gone. i get a nice strong idle now at all times.

This most likely IS NOT THE SOLUTION but I had the same problem of very low rpm and the engine dying out when I tried to park. I had checked my ECU the evening before and my car was fine before then. So, I decided to reset the ECU again and went ahead and reset it. The car is back to normal again. Since you have been driving quite good and this happened after you hit the pothole, you most likely don't have to reset the ECU.

Worth a try if everything else fails.

If you don't know how to reset the ECU, try this link...cuz I did! WORD OF WARNING though. If you have the "check engine" light on, doing this would clear it and you wouldn't have the error codes. So, I suggest that you read the error codes before you reset it. Instructions are also on the same webpage.

One time when I reset my ecu, I neglected to put the adjuster back in the middle, and my car was idling at a painful 350-400 rpms, crying the whole time. I moved the slot back to the middle, where it lines up with the slot on the outside, and bingo, back to 800 rpms. Sounds like that is what happened to your car ram.

As for potholes = stalling, try having your car running, and jiggle various things (MAF sensor, ignition wires, etc.) and see if you can't duplicate the stalling. Should help you locate the problem.

Yea... I think that was the problem. Being the car newbie I am, I guess I just used some layman terms to describe the problem and the solution to it too...Thank you Chickan

My mechanic found the problem. The wire that goes from the crankshaft sensor to the ecm was broken. He checked the wires that run by the passenger side through the firewall and found the culprit. It was a very tedious process since that wire was insulated. thanks guys for the help
