O2 Sensor question...

Is it bad to drive on a bad O2 sensor for about 2 weeks or so? Don't have the cash right now for new one. I know i will get horrible MPG but just curious if it will mess anything else up.

Thanks.

I've had that code for O2 sensor something something damage. Its not the sensor itself i think it siad its the housing. The MIL light has been on for over 6 months still cant get the cash for a new one.

In 2 weeks you shouldn't have any major issues other than your gas mileage. Of course, if you go 6 months with it being bad, ur probably gonna spend as much money on extra gas as you would just replacing the 02 sensor.

I just turned 95k on my SE. I've pretty much done the typical maintenance items on the car but I have not done the o2 sensors. I don't have a SEL indicating that they are bad, but I was just wondering when I should expect them to go bad. Any ideas???

if you drive with a bad 02 sensor your car will run rich and carbon will build in your intake. I dont think this will be a major problem if you drive like this for 2 weeks.

what causes them to go ? will headers give you an o2 sensor code. or what about running race gas ? my rear 02 is gone, just wondering what caused the front o2 to go down

I know that when I replaced my y pipe, the sensor fell from where I had it sitting, and smacked against the subframing of the car. When i re installed it, my cel light came on, and I got the code for the front 02 sensor, so any type of force or impact on the sensor seems to damage it easily. Other than that, im not sure about other things that would cause the 02 sensor to fail.

It depends on which O2 is bad. If it's a rear sensor, then your gas mileage and engine performance will not be effected. If it's a front O2, engine performance will be effected. It's not going to damage your car, but it might hit you in the wallet at the pump.

No, but it will affect gas mileage.

i keep having my cel come up with a bad front right heated O2 sensor. I replaced it, then a week or so later it the cel is back on. Where is this one located and where does the wire lead up to for the connection. I want to make sure i replaced the front right O2 sensor.
