its gonna chip and flake off the first time you use your key for the trunk..

I know when i took my car in to get repainted they didnt cover one of the front key holes and the stuff flaked off after using the key twice

I got my key hole replaced with a camera, but the outer circle rusted and flaked off to silver. I'm getting my outer ring painted, along with the keyholes of the car. Do you have keyless entry? you should consider doing the keyholes of your doors as well

yes i do have keyless entry, but it only works when it wants to. i would think that if i prepped it well and used enough coats, engine enamal is tough enough to work well. i also thought about going ahead and doing the front and passenger doors while im at it but id have to mask that carefully, overspray would suck.

remove the lock assembly and have the outside powder coated. That will last.

Or just insert a slug, paint it the same colour as your car. Cheaper than body filler or getting it done professionally. Ive never used the key hole, last time i tried it didnt open the door! I guess im ruled by the keyless.
