There are a few thing it can be. 1)fuel pump fuse. (easy)
2)fuel pump not good ($$$) it is under passenger seat.

the car has a full tank .. the feeling that i am getting is that the car is trying to start sound being generated but it does not seem to be turning the motor ... do you think a belt might be broken? or something that is not rotating the engine ...

Maybe your starter is bad. What I understand from your post is that you are cranking, but the engine is not actually moving. Can you verify this?
