Climate control unit backlight bulbs

Hi guys

Again, feel like a total newb here

The backlight on the left side of the climate control unit in my '97 SE is out - the part with the temp up/down buttons and a few others. I understand it's probably just a bulb. I have the FSM for the car, but just can't find the place that shows what bulbs are there and how hard is it to get to them. I understand in principle how the dash comes apart, just can't find anything on the climate control unit itself.

If someone can point out either where in FSM this thing is or just what's the usual procedure for this stuff it, that would be very helpful

Thanks.

bulbs on a 97 are simply plug ins. You have take out the CC unit and they're visible from the back. Bulbs from my dealer at 9 bucks a piece. I got them from jerryromenissan.com for 4.

Replacing this bulb is not even worth it.
if i were you, id go ahead and get Blue (or whatever color) LEDS and replace them all.
Taking apart the dash is a pain in my opinion.

Thanks for advice, NetFurie.

as for it being not worth it, i kinda like the stock look, i have black interior, it's a pretty clean way around it, would be nice to get the lights back

looking at the manual though, to take out the climate control unit requires taking out the big trim piece that goes all the way dows to the shifter...that's a pita

gonna drop by Nissan on the way home at least figure out how much the bulbs are...one of the ones i had to replace on the Accord i'm selling was $15, wtf

its not to bad to get the climate control out... same procedure as installing a new stereo, its in the stickies

but after that you need to open up the back of the cliamte control... its not that hard but very tedious to take apart

i know i've had my climate control opened about 5 times at least

taking apart the dash is no problem. I can do my whole dash [vents, climatecontrol, headunit, shifter trim, ashtray, etc] in around 10 min. it's all in the how-to's

Hey guys,

Since we're talking about the climate control.. I just read the How To for converting the bulbs in my manual climate control to LEDs and have one question which it wasn't very clear on.

Which bulbs need the resistor? All of them or just the three on the main board that were originally mini-incandescent w blue rubber covers?

its just those three the green leds can be swapped out directly with 3mm leds

Anyone know if Jerry Rome Nissan ships to Canada? Also, how are their prices in general, I don't really have a reference point yet

I've only ordered a couple things from them, but the prices are better than anything I can get local at the dealer... by far. You can get a complete set of factory floormats for $50.

The only other place I buy from is nissanparts.cc
They have the best prices I've seen but it's kind of a pain to order. You type in what you need on the site and it sends an email to some lady at the shop. She sends you an email back telling you how much. Then you order. But don't try to rush shipment on any items, they have to wait until the dealer sends them the part before shipping to you.

You don't have to take apart the climate control on a 97. You can see the bulbs from the back.
