Clang when pressing the clutch pedal

Just got a 5spd SE a few days ago, still getting used to it, so sorry for newb questions.

I notice that sometimes when I push the clutch pedal down, it makes a metallic sounding clang halfway down, like some metal on metal snap/hit or something. It comes from the pedal area I think, not from engine/center tunnel.

Everything still works as it should (at least as far as i can tell with my 5 days of 5spd driving experience ) but that noise doesn't seem normal.

Anything I should have a look at down there?

Thanks.

I'll probably drop by my own mechanic tomorrow ask them to give it a once-over, since the car was safety-certified, the selling dealer has certain responsibilities. Thanks for the advice...still curious to know what might the clunk be....

I think i have the same problem. I would describe it more as a squeak or scrape in the pedal. I never really thought much of it. I would like to know what you find.

ok, had my mechanic look at it - he said it's just the linkage making noise, nothing serious - i was there only for an oil change, so I didn't ask them to really look into it, will drive around like this for now, might get it fixed when the car is in for some other reason

Could be that your assist spring (#15 in illustration) needs some lube. It might also be (don't laugh) your driver's seat. Mine makes creaking noises when I hit the clutch.
