what would i experience if my timing chain was tensioned incorrectly ?

I have an oil leak coming from the timing chain cover that the dealership suppoesdly attempted to fix i see teh rtv outside the cover but its still leaking. Anyway since they decided to change the timing chain while they were down their. Without my consent. What would i notice happening if it was incorrectly timed ?

A very poor running engine with little to no power. Probably a bunch of cam and crank sensor codes in the ECU as well.

What do you mean they replaced the timing chain without your consent? The timing chains don't need to be replaced. What was the mileage when they did it? Take the car back and insist they absorb the costs of any and all repairs required to get the vehicle functioning properly. If they refuse, threaten to report them to the Better Business Bureau or whatever you have there.

i tried to tell them to pay for it to get it fixed properly he told me it wasnt under warranty anymore.... The car was running beautifully before they went in their and changed that when i test drove it it accelerated perfect. It was fast. Now 80% of the time i cant get a decent acceleration like i have to fully floor it to get it to move. Also i smell some type of burning when i hit 80 mph not sure what that is..

Go back and scream and shout. Threaten to boycott the premises with signs. I know someone who did that (signs outside on the street) and they came around pretty damn quick.
