I got rear ended
I got rear ended
So today I finally got my car passed emissions with my new Cattman fastcat, which is an incredible product! As some might remeber my car has been in disrepair from august of last year because I ran over a tire left in the road at night. It severed my exhaust at the cat and had to be replaced. I got Cattman headers out of the insurance check also. The cat I originally replaced it with was a custom maxima "highflow cat" which was faulty right out of the box, and caused me to fail emissions twice!!! And my tags expired so I couldn't drive for 2 weeks before i got an extension. Of course neither I nor my mechanic thought it was the cat because it was brand new. I spent nearly $1000 for tune ups, oil, labor, parts, and tests, and other random things I can't even remeber because the whole process has taken 8 months (durring which my car sounded like a motorcycle because of the severed cat). When we finally narrowed it down to either the CAT or EGR, we tested the cat, and it wasn't flaming on. All that money for a faulty crappy product with the worst flanges I've ever seen. They gave me such a hard time about returning it I haven't heard from them since. I even sent a fax with the test result to show that the cat was defective! The EPA demands that all new cats are given a 5 year 50,000 mile warranty. I didn't even recieve a warranty card with the CM cat. Finally Cattman gave me a sweet cat that works, and I passed emissions TODAY. Just about an hour ago I was on campus at UMD and some schlonghead rear ended me at a stop sign!
I looked at my car and nothing was damaged. There was a tiny scratch, but I didn't care, and I let him go, cuz I'm not the typee to rape someone for such a little thing. Later after I start my car to come back home, my exhuast starts rattling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He must have hit my exhaust tip, but it doesn't look like he did! Now I am so freakin pissed that I want to break my windows out and pour gas on the inside.
I don't know how much crap I have gone through in the last 8 months to get my car back to normal, and finally I have it........ for a total of half a day before some butt knocker ruins it all over again! The worst part is I let him go.
Can someone please kill me.

If you can find the guy that hit you, call him and ask for the name of his insurance carrier, then file your own claim with his carrier for the cost to fix the exhaust bracket (or whatever). They might want an adjuster to go look at it before you pay to have it fixed. Take some pictures of the broken bracket, if you can.
If you don't know his name, but you do remember his tag #, your DMV should be able to tell you what insurance carrier covers that vehicle. Prepare to get stuck in voice menus for an hour before you finally get a real person. Once you get that info, call the insurance carrier and set up your own claim.
Otherwise, if you carry uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage and/or comprehensive/collision for property damage, call your own insurance carrier and tell them the truth to see if this repair is covered since it was caused by a collision. They'll probably say you violated the terms of the policy by letting the other guy go.
If you live in a "no fault" insurance state, I have no idea how that works.
If it's just a rattle, maybe it won't be a big deal to fix it.
