Quick Question About Alternator
Well if you hear a screaching sound when you start up, then you could have a bad alternator. You can regrease the alternator.
If you use a multimeter, when the car is started the multimeter should read about 14.5volts. If it is lower than than, like 13volts, then your alternator is not generating enough power.
I think motorvate.ca(hope I spelled it right) has a write up. check stickys.

ah okay only reason i ask is because i got my battery and alternator checked out and the guy said the battery was no good so he used one of his to complete the test and then after he had the car running checked the alternator and saw an excess in voltage droping so im not sure if thats from a short or a bad alternator and i still didnt change the battery imma do that today
got plenty of visits any one else with some feedback well im going today to auto zone get the battery checked out and gonna pick up a multimeter any good place to put it so i can check the alternator also can i use this too see if there is any power coming to my door lights because those are out too
