A couple of strange things happening to my car
I replaced my suspension about 4 weeks ago and since then I've had a couple of weird problems with my car. I doubt they're related, but hell you never know. In any event, they're both really weird and I was wondering what y'all's opinions are on them.
1. My brakes have been making this really weird grinding sound and also occassionally feel like they slightly lose their grip. At first, this only happened if I had to brake pretty hard, but recently it's started happening more often. This morning on my drive in, it happened almost every time I broke. I don't have ABS and my brake pads are fairly new.
2. My car idles rougher than it used to. This is especially apparent if my car is sitting on a hill (either uphill or downhill). The engine just sounds louder and it's very vibrationy. The car doesn't shake like it did with bad coil packs, but it's definitely not a nice smooth idle like I'm used to and like it should be. All my coil packs and spark plugs are brand new as of 1/05.
If you have any ideas, they'd be greatly appreciated. My mechanic says it'll take a couple hours to diagnose these problems and they charge regular rates for all diagnostic time. Basically, I don't want to drop $150+ just to get the problem diagnosed before any actualy repair work is done.
Thanks.

Check the ecu to see if it throws any codes even if CEL isn't on. Try running seafoam and clean out throttle body to see if that helps with the idle. You said your brake pads are new, did you change them or someone else? If pads look good, rotors look good, could be a bad caliper, also check brake fluid, is resovior low? Doing all this should help narrow down the problems, good luck.

-cleaned TB in January
-someone else changed my pads, about 12,000 miles ago. my mechanic just took a look them and the rotors and said they both had plenty of life left in them.
I guess I'll check the ecu and brake fluids and sort of hope it's one of those two things. Otherwise, this is just really weird.
